Office people, why not help the Earth?
Many people talk about ’going green’. The problem with this enthusiasm, the majority of the time, is that it just doesn’t last. Life, fun and living get in the way, and once that happens this great Earth of ours takes an unfortunate back seat...
Here, now, are a few real ways you can make your office more green. Be sure to email this to your colleagues so that they can start taking advantage right away! (And we all know that that means saving money, too.)
1) Get energy-saving light-bulbs: there really is no excuse not to have these. They are now available all over the place and at a fairly reasonable price (OK, it’s much more than what normal bulbs cost but still).

2) Print out leaflets (on recycled paper only, please) showing your staff how to be more green: the list includes not buying plastic bags – one of the least green things around – and tons of other things which really don’t take too much effort. It’s all about getting into a good new routine, really.
3) Ask your staff to not leave the toilet lights on all the time: this is a major one (and extends to other rooms where the lights are left on all the time, of course!). Something that we are all guilty of to some extent. Do something about it now and see the savings come flying in.
4) Talk to all employees – including handymen and the like – about leaving doors open while the central-heating is on. This will save you more and confine that costly, cosy heat to places where humans need it more than the cold outside!
5) When re-painting and the like, try to use ecologically sound materials.
6) Why not take full advantage of the Sun? It’s beaming down on us constantly, and it just doesn’t make any sense not to tap into this free and incredible source of power. This will require an initial investment, but rest assured that over the years you will re-coup this and more. It all begins with a plan of action, and once you have chatted with a company who installs these things you’ll feel much more confident about this exciting prospect.
7) If you need a roof re-done then definitely use a sound material and NOT tar. The old way of roofing may be quick and easy, but it is also damaging our planet. Don’t be a part of that, please, when there is no need to!
